Eric Gory, product manager at Molex, said: "The new HarshIO M8 module with IP67 rating is a more compact solution than the current hybrid M12/M8 modules, allowing installation directly into the machine even in the toughest environments. The narrow body is easy to configure, making this module an economical choice for machine builders."
The Brad HarshIO module is IP67 rated for protection against dust, liquids and vibration. The machine installation method can save space in the cabinet and reduce the wiring cost in the field. Two integrated CAN fieldbus ports provide a daisy-chained wiring topology for additional cost savings.
HarshIO's 8-port design is extremely flexible, supporting high-density I/O points, and can be connected to sensing devices, actuators, or any single digital signal device in a compact space. This configurable module features built-in protection against short circuits and current overload, and diagnostic LEDs for visual feedback on network, power and I/O status.
Eric Gory added: “Machine manufacturers need to replace complex wiring and terminal boxes with economical connectivity solutions. The Brad modules in harsh environments are ODVA certified for some of the most demanding automotive, automation, food and beverage applications in the industry. It has been tested in other industrial applications."
