The new Deep Learning Professional Certificate on Coursera will include 5 courses. These courses were developed by Wu En and Stanford University graduate students Kian Katanforoosh and Younes Mourr, who will teach neural networks, backpropagation, convolutional networks and revolving networks, as well as other core aspects of deep learning.
Students taking the entrance exam can also participate in a deep learning program to address real-world issues in medical, music and language understanding. Some of these courses will also include interviews with deep learning developers. Three of the five courses will be launched today.
"In deep learning, there has been a situation of short supply," Wu Enda explained to me in an interview. “This project is currently concentrated in a few laboratories, several top universities, and much of the knowledge can only be found on ARXIV (a website that collects physics, mathematics, computer science, and biology papers).â€
In 2011, Wu Enda's first machine learning class became the first course of Coursera. To date, more than 1.5 million students have participated in this course. His goal remains to help students create the most convenient way to grow in the field of artificial intelligence and to address global challenges.
"With the development of electricity, we have seen the rise of the electrical engineering discipline," Wu Enda explained. For a long time, Wu Enda has always supported the comparison of artificial intelligence to the discipline of electricity.
Several companies will provide tools and resources to students, but the goal is to ensure that the course is not over-branded. In recent months, data science communities like Kaggle have been frequently acquired by Google, which has attracted the attention of many cloud service providers.
In the long run, it is not good for anyone if a student gets a deep learning framework from a large technology company simply because of a sponsorship agreement. But Wu Enda is very clear that he came here to teach learners the most useful knowledge. This means that before considering the framework, he should choose an entry-level language like Python to teach deep learning.
Students who are interested in taking this new course should visit the Coursera website. The only prerequisites are basic programming knowledge, proficiency in Python, and a general understanding of machine learning.
Wu Enda told me that he is studying three different projects. Although he did not disclose the specific details, he said that other products will be more specific artificial intelligence products.
