Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) has expanded its SigmaDSP® audio processor family with the new ADAU144x SigmaDSP audio processor for automotive audio and amplifiers that require signal routing and processing for multiple audio sources. The ADAU1442, ADAU1445, and ADAU1446 SigmaDSP audio processors feature an industry-leading audio instruction set, including a flexible Audio Routing Matrix (FARM), enabling automotive audio subsystem engineers to dramatically increase processing speed and reduce CD swaps. The complexity of audio signal routing and clocking issues associated with MP3, DVD players, satellite broadcasts, GPS navigation systems, and other asynchronous audio sources. With FARM solutions, system designers can quickly compensate for real-world limitations on speakers, amplifiers, and listening environments, dramatically improving audio quality through speaker equalization, multi-band compression, clipping, and third-party algorithms.

The new SigmaDSP audio processor includes up to eight stereo asynchronous sample rate converters, one S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) transceiver, and serial I/O, supporting I2S (inter-IC sound) and TDM ( Time Division Multiple Access) format. Any input can be connected to the SigmaDSP core or any output channel for maximum system flexibility. The SigmaDSP core of the new audio processor family supports full 28-bit processing (56-bit in dual precision mode) with synchronous parameter loading to ensure filter stability, and ADI's SigmaStudioTM graphical development environment 100% coding efficiency is achieved when used together. The SigmaStudio graphical development environment includes audio processing modules such as FIR and IIR filters, dynamic processors, mixers, simple DSP functions, and third-party algorithms.
