Scientists invent new technology to control drones with traditional smart watches

In recent years, gesture control drones are becoming a new development direction. In recent days, Swiss scientific experts have discovered a new technology that can be integrated into traditional smart watches and successfully control drones.

Controlling devices with gestures is nothing new, but it's common to use cameras, accelerometers, or gyroscopes to collect signals to perform operations. However, researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute for Materials Testing and Development (EMPA) recently discovered a new technology and integrated it into a traditional-looking smart watch and successfully controlled the drone.

The research team led by Frank Clemens uses 3D printed fiber to make the strap, and the user will create a piezoresistive action after any gesture, which will cause the charge to change for judgment and analysis. Then, according to the preset gesture information, an instruction is issued to the drone, the remote control car, etc., thereby performing wireless control.

In the demonstration, Clemens showed the use of gestures to adjust the direction of the drone, take off and land, and so on. However, it can be seen from the demonstration that the technology from the collection of gesture data to the final successful delivery of the execution command to the drone takes a long time, can not be controlled in real time, the team said that it will be further improved in the future.

HD Slip Ring

HD Slip Ring is an electromechanical device. It allows the transmission of power and signals from a stationary to a rotating structure. It consists of an electrically conductive rotating ring, with one or more stationary contacts. They are called "stations" or "spokes". Electrical signals (power and/or data) are transmitted through the slip ring. This is done by means of brushes that make contact with the ring.

It is typically used where there is a need to rotate one object relative to another. Especially for passing power and/or signals from the stationary object to the rotating object.

Regarding it's application in conjunction with other equipment, we'll need high-quality production. Oubaibo uses components imported from the United States and high-frequency signal processing. Which has the characteristics of small size, lightweight, good insulation performance, stable transmission, and so on. Its unique design makes it an ideal choice for many applications.
