Multi-mode fiber optic connectors will also maximize their short-range applications, such as LANs, high-performance computer data centers, "big data" and storage area networks (SANs) in other applications.

Stephen Montgomery of Electronicast’s Optical Component Group said, “The trend for miniaturized connectors is mostly multi-fiber connectors because they can reduce space requirements and the cost of each fiber interconnect.
