Today, the US government launched an AR app called "1600" that lets people explore the iconic White House through their smartphones. The application's gameplay is very simple. When the user opens the app and scans a dollar bill with a cell phone camera, the app builds a three-dimensional model of the White House based on the face of President Washington. The so-called "1600" is the 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Northwest Washington, DC, which is the White House address.
The app was produced by the British studio Nexus Studios and combines the efforts of the White House Historical Society. In the application, White House press secretary Josh Earnest will tell the story of the White House in a narration. The application will also allow users to see the four seasons of the White House. They will meet US President Barack Obama and First Lady, or President Kennedy. Even President Lincoln. In addition, some content can only be triggered by the user's discovery, users can pause the entire scene for detailed mining, zoom in and out, or share photos to social media.
White House product director Joshua Miller said: "1600" is a way to reach young Americans because they really like to play Pokémon Go and Snapchat's AR filters, and this project can be combined with Facebook's chat machine to let people Write to President Obama, the combination of these two new technologies just to meet the real needs of people.
Currently "1600" is open for download and supports iOS and Android platforms.
