In order to get bidirectional output capability and operate under dual power supplies, a floating differential operating voltage can be applied to the power supply terminal of the NE555. A voltage displacement network composed of resistors R3 to R6 and transistors VT1, VT2 can be used to generate the necessary floating voltage. Capacitor C3 is used to suppress high frequency oscillations generated when the timer output is beating.
