NASA Osram cooperates in space planting, immigration Mars is just around the corner?

Recently, Osram, the global high-tech lighting company, announced that it will provide the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with a special customized Phytofy RL for interconnected plant lighting research.

The system meets the lighting technology needs of NASA research projects with smart lighting software and unique interconnected planting lighting. At the same time, OSRAM has a variety of plant lighting LED products, and can adjust the wavelength of light for different plants and flowers, to achieve fast and high quality growth, to meet the different lighting needs of a variety of crops.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) revealed that LED growth lights will be used to grow tomatoes and fresh salad leaves to provide food for astronauts on the International Space Station. The researchers made a growth room at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to dim the LED lighting system to provide optimal conditions when the system was finally installed on the International Space Station.

The researchers used OSRAM's Phytofy RL system, which includes a UV channel that allows researchers to add transient UV rays to understand how plants react and change. It also includes an irradiance map so that scientists do not need to measure irradiance separately before changing the light settings.

The Phytofy RL system can be loved and valued by NASA. What are the reasons?

1. Establish an ultraviolet light channel, and a person can observe the reaction and changes of the plant by adding a short-term ultraviolet light.

2. More LEDs, that is to say PPF (photosynthetic photon flux) is higher. PPF can illuminate the intensity of light by calculating the number of moles of photons output per second. This data is critical for T-plant researchers to determine the most cost-effective lighting.

3. Irradiance Reference Chart - Researchers can use Osram software to view irradiance without having to perform separate irradiance measurements before changing the lighting settings.

For this reason, the Phytofy RL system became a powerful partner for NASA to explore space and was recently installed by NASA in the training room at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It is also planned to extend the configuration to other walk-in plant cultivation rooms in the center.

The team is adjusting lighting conditions to optimize plant growth under various conditions and then replicate these scenes in the Advanced Space Plant's Advanced Plant Habitat (AdvancedPlant Habitat) to meet the complex needs of producing food in space.

Through the radiation of light of different wavelengths, the growth cycle of the plants can be controlled and accelerated, so that plants can be harvested more frequently or as needed. Special light formulas not only optimize yield and growth time, but also increase vitamin and nutrient content in plants and enhance certain flavors. LEDs not only provide tailor-made bioactive lighting, but they are also very effective.

In recent years, NASA has been exploring the possibility of growing food crops in a controlled environment for long-term space missions. A research team led by NASA plant physiologist Ray Wheeler has been studying how to effectively grow safe, fresh food crops in space.

Recently, the astronauts of the International Space Station harvested and ate various red lettuces, which were grown in a plant growth system called Veggie.

Osram's Steve Graves said: "In the past few decades, many of the world's coolest and most beneficial inventions have come from NASA scientists. It is a glory to use our technology to further promote innovation."

In the past few years, OSRAM has increased its investment in the field of plant lighting. The company has developed special lamps to customize the light source formula according to the type of plant. In 2017, OSRAM invested in Munich-based start-up company Agrilution, which developed a planting box with LED lighting for home use.

In May of this year, OSRAM acquired Fluence Bioengineering, which integrates smart lighting, sensors and intelligent software to become a leader in digital plant lighting solutions.

8 Inches Tablet PC

The 8-inch tablet will have a big impact on the 7-inch and 10-inch tablet market. Because the portability of an 8-inch tablet is stronger than that of a 10-inch tablet, and the usable area is larger than that of a 7-inch tablet. The most important thing is that the price is more moderate, which is much cheaper than a 10-inch tablet. It can be said that the 8-inch tablet computer has a good balance between portability and screen display area, and is more likely to be favored by the majority of users.
