Molex Introduces Nano-Pitch I/O 80 Circuit Interconnect System

Molex introduces the Nano-PitchI/O80 circuit interconnect system with ultra-high port density (high-speed differential channel count) and speed (25Gbps per channel) in the smallest available package. The concept of multi-protocol pin assignment enables compatibility with all existing SAS, SATA and PCIe protocols and enhances signal integrity in an ultra-compact size. Ideal for SAS and PCI Express applications, the connector is suitable for storage to controllers, server-to-server, server-to-switch, switch-to-switch, and mobile/enterprise connections.

"With the industry-leading port density, multi-protocol application support and enhanced signal integrity, the Nano-Pitch I/O80 circuit interconnect system is redefining the PCIe and SAS solutions in the storage industry," said Molex product manager JoeDambach.

The system's flexible pin assignment concept (continuous ground-signal-signal-ground) is optimized for high speed applications, maximizing the number of high speed channels within the length provided. According to industry standards, eight channels (80 circuits) are available.

The system has a very small form factor (5 mm x 23 mm x 9 mm) and the connector-to-cable plug-in assembly is only 12 mm high and is suitable for right-angle cable exits, enabling enterprise applications to serve mobile devices. The staggered, highly reliable, constant double row contact configuration enables hot swapping (the ability to add components without shutting down the system). In addition, the connector provides optimal path planning for high-speed tracking connections while reducing the need for printed circuit board space.

Storage system applications for the Nano-PitchI/O80 circuit interconnect system include data center and enterprise storage systems, storage racks, JBODs, storage controllers, HBA servers, and RAIDS. The telecommunications/networking applications of the connectors include hubs, servers, switches, and routers.
