Microsoft MR Heads Up to Support Steam VR This Week

Microsoft launched its own VR platform a few weeks ago. As soon as it was just launched, Microsoft's VR/MR heads did not have much software content yet, but it will soon turn for the better. From this week, Microsoft VR/MR Head Start will start supporting Steam VR content.

Earlier this fall, Steam VR announced a related version of the Microsoft MR head-up. Steam VR will now launch a beta version supporting Microsoft's MR Head Start from November 15. This is not a way to experience Steam VR games natively: this is just a bridge to convert the VR content of the Steam platform into something that Microsoft hardware can use. However, the actual effect is much better than what the outside world expected. As Microsoft's Greg Sullivan said, this will be a big wave of good content.

I once experienced Steam VR on Samsung Odyssey, and its effect is still very good.

The Steam VR interface presented by Microsoft's MR heads and what users see on the htc vive are always there. Microsoft promises that all applications except the Oculus and HTC Vive will be compatible with the Microsoft MR Head. Acer, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung and Dell's MR heads are the same in terms of basic specifications, enabling room-scale tracking without the need for an external camera. Samsung's Odyssey is higher in resolution than others, but the price is more expensive, to 499 US dollars.

I once experienced "Lab", "Tilt Brush", "Duck Hunting" and "Work Simulation" on the Microsoft MR head display. All of these games are smooth, but Microsoft's wireless remote control occasionally happens to be stuck. It can be seen that Microsoft has not optimized some of the software yet.

As Steam VR is about to log on to the Microsoft platform, Win 10 will also be updated on November 15 to improve the VR performance of integrated graphics on Windows systems, allowing more VR games to run smoothly.

Microsoft Sullivan admits that VR and MR are a moving target. The ultimate goal of Microsoft MR is to achieve a seamless operating system experience. However, this hasn't happened yet. Microsoft's first-generation VR headset may not implement all of Microsoft's plans. For example, the current Microsoft MR headshots can't use the more advanced cameras to make virtual and reality use the same as HoloLens. Realize real integration.

If the Steam VR application runs smoothly on Microsoft hardware, it will usher in a wave of software installations.
