MediaTek COO Zhu Shangzu said in an interview with Media that in the second half of 2016, MediaTek's important strategy was to launch the latest processor Helio X30, focusing on power consumption and multimedia experience to meet the needs of high-end models and more and more VR products.
The Helio X30 is a second-generation ten-core processor developed by MediaTek, consisting of two 2.8GHz A73s (the next generation architecture, codenamed Artemis), four 2.2GHz A53s and four 2GHz A35 CPU cores. The Helio X30 will use TSMC's 10nm process and Cat.12 full Netcom baseband, supporting up to 8GB of running memory and supporting the UFS 2.1 standard.
On the GPU side, the Helio X30 is likely to have a quad-core PowerVR 7XT GPU that will support a 26-megapixel camera, dual cameras and VR devices.
