Florida Power Lighting Corporation FPL, the largest wind farm operator in the United States, has announced plans to invest $2 billion to build a wind power project in North Dakota to promote renewable energy.
The project will provide more than 1,000 megawatts of electricity to the grid. FPL Energy is a business unit of the FPL Power Lighting Group. According to the company, the wind farm will be built on an area of ​​250 square miles, using more than 667 wind turbines.
The company plans to draft and submit applications to the relevant departments around July 1, 2009, and is expected to be approved on May 1, 2010. FPL Energy stated that the project will be completed in the preliminary preparation phase on June 1, 2010 and will be completed on December 31, 2012.
