According to an analysis by US brokerage KeyBanc, Amazon’s market share in cloud computing fell by 6 percentage points in the fourth quarter of 2017, while Microsoft’s market share in this area increased by 4%.
KeyBanc analyst Brent Bracelin wrote in a report that Amazon's AWS cloud platform fell to 62% in the fourth quarter from 68%, while Microsoft's Azure cloud market share rose from 16% to 20%. Google’s market share has risen from 10% to 12%.
According to the report, Azure Cloud contributed $3.7 billion in revenue to Microsoft in 2017, indicating that Azure Cloud's revenue has almost doubled in recent quarters. Analysts predict that Azure Cloud's revenue is expected to grow by 88% in 2018.
At the same time, Amazon said AWS Cloud's revenue in the third quarter of 2017 increased by 42%.
